Lead Teacher Position Available

Please note: While we say “Lead” Teacher; we only use that term for hiring purposes, as we don’t want to hire anyone who can’t handle a preschool class of 12 children on their own (you will not have an assistant.) If you have only been an Assistant Preschool Teacher in the past, we’re looking for someone who is self-motivated, multi-tasks extremely well, and can perform happily under many pressures of managing a preschool class by yourself.

• Preschool Teacher Position-
  • As a Preschool Teacher, you will teach classes of 3-5-year-olds (with 12 students).  We are a play-based preschool and teach our students through play.  We’re looking for someone who is highly skilled in differentiated teaching and can guide each child to meet their goals.
    • Teaching Period-  August 12th- June 1st (and each school year after)
    • Pre-K Teacher Position available- M_W_F class 8:40-11:55 a.m.
    • Pre-K Teacher Position available- T_TH  Class 12:30-3:45 p.m.
    • Each of these classes requires that you are here 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after the class time. These classes have 10 different students in each class.
  • Wages
    • Hourly: Depends on experience with base pay starting at $15/hr. without a degree and $18/hr with a related degree.
    • Paid Prep/Cleaning Time: 30 minutes for each class; 15 before/after as well as a few hours per month per class (depending on the class days taught).
    • Supply Budget: $50 a month for the 2-day class and $75 a month per 3-day class
    • Paid monthly planning meeting
    • Occasional paid training

• Duties:
  • Foster strong relationships with children and their families
  • Teach with love and laughter
  • Plan your class curriculum by following the NAEYC guidelines to help each of your students reach their Social, Emotional, Cognitive, and Physical goals.  Our teachers pull from several different models and philosophies, but our preschool runs most like a Creative Curriculum classroom would: learning through play.
  • Engage your students in developmentally appropriate activities through hands-on teaching.
  • Manage your class effectively and lovingly on your own.
  • Build close friendships with your students and their families.
  • Assess students 3x/year (with our Assessment Kit) and hold Parent-Teacher conferences 2x/year.
  • Become CPR/1st Aid Certified within the first month of hire.
  • Participate in our after-school events such as our Fall Carnival and Christmas Party.
  • Clean and sanitize your classroom each day.
  • Compile a portfolio of each student’s projects each year.
• Our Preferred Teacher would have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or some college in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Family, and Consumer Science, or another related field
  • As well as teaching several years of lead or solo teaching preschool experience
